Meaning & usage
なくなる expresses a change into a negative state, meaning something that was possible or true stops being so and is often translated as no longer. To form it, take the nai form of a verb or i-adjective and replace ない with なくなる, as in 乗れない to 乗れなくなる or わからない to わからなくなる, then conjugate なる for tense and politeness. It describes loss of ability or state, not continuation, so it never means being unable to stop.
