Meaning & usage
だけで(は)なく expresses that something is not limited to one item or quality, adding that something else is also true, like not only English but also German. It follows a noun directly, or the plain present form of a verb or adjective, as in 食べるだけでなく or かわいいだけでなく, with は adding contrast. The following clause often includes も, though も may be omitted when the addition is clear from context.
