終わる is a verb meaning that something comes to an end or that someone completes an action. It follows a noun with the particle が, as in 学校が終わる, or a masu-stem in the pattern 読み終わる, meaning to finish reading. It appears in time expressions like までに and までには to mark when something will be over.
