出す・だす (su dasu)

Meaning & usage

出す adds the nuance of something starting abruptly or suddenly. As a suffix it attaches to the masu-stem of a verb, as in 長くなりだす. It also works as a standalone verb meaning to put out or submit, seen in set phrases like 口を出す and 手を出す, which often appear in negative commands.
