行く・いく (ku iku)

Meaning & usage

〜ていく expresses that an action or state continues forward from now into the future. It is often used for habits, ongoing efforts, or gradual change. It attaches to the te-form of a verb, as in 勉強していく or 続けていく, and いく itself conjugates for tense or intention, as in いきます or いこう. In this auxiliary use it is normally written in hiragana.
