と (to)

Meaning & usage

The particle と connects two nouns, listing them together like "and" (お子様セットとクリームソーダ), and also marks the person or thing someone does something with, like "with" (彼女と友達になる). It simply follows a noun in both uses.

1. そこらへんは、男子だんしと女子じょしとでは違ちがうんだってば。

   Obviously that's different for men and women.

   Suppose there's some jerk you just can't get on with.

   C is formed by reacting A with B.

   I went to drink a beer with friends.
