わけではない denies an expectation or softens a negative, meaning it is not the case that something holds or something is not necessarily true. It follows the plain form of verbs and adjectives, with nouns and な adjectives keeping だ, and という is often placed before わけ, as in 来るわけではない or 学生だというわけではない. In casual speech it becomes わけじゃない, and it differs from a direct ない denial because it leaves room for partial truth rather than rejecting the fact completely.
