ある (aru)

Meaning & usage

ある expresses the existence of inanimate things, as in having time. It follows a noun marked with が. The form である is a related copula used after nouns to state what something is, often in written or formal style.

1. 時間じかんがあるか分わかりません。

   I don't know if I have the time.

2. なぜか、急ぐ気は起こらない。時間は、十分ある。

   Somehow I just don't feel like hurrying. I have enough time.
