ましょう (mashou)

Meaning & usage

ましょう is the polite volitional form used to invite or suggest doing something together, like "let's." It attaches to the masu-stem of a verb (the form before ます). With か, as in ましょうか, it offers to do something for the listener, meaning "shall I."

1. 何なにかしてみましょう。

   Let's try something.

2. 父は外出しています。お電話するように伝えましょうか。

   My father is out. Shall I tell him to call you back?
