要る・いる (ru iru)

Meaning & usage

要る・いる expresses that something is needed or required. It follows a noun marked with the particle が, as in お金が要る. Note that the provided examples instead show いる used as the auxiliary in ている progressive forms, so the need usage itself is not illustrated there.
