けれども (keredomo)

nevertheless; although; but

Meaning & usage

けれども connects two clauses, with the second often contrasting or going against what the first suggests. It follows plain-form verbs and i-adjectives, as in ころんだけれども and 悪かったけれども. It is a slightly longer variant of けれど/けど and works in both casual and neutral speech.
