いる (iru)

Meaning & usage

いる follows the te-form of a verb to express an ongoing action or a resulting state, as in 何を話しているの. It can also appear in set expressions like なっている for a current state. It is used in both casual and neutral speech.

2. １１時になっているよ。

   It is already eleven.
