で (de)

Meaning & usage

The particle で marks the place where an action takes place, corresponding to at, in or on, and it can also mark a time limit by which something is finished. It follows a noun directly, as in 駅で or 三日で, without any change to the noun itself. Use に rather than で for the place where someone or something exists with verbs like いる and ある.
