Meaning & usage
The te-form of a verb connects one action to what follows, often meaning and then or while doing in a way like by running. It attaches directly to a verb, with forms like 食べて, 飲んで, 行って, and して that depend on the verb group and must be learned. The tense is shown by the final verb, so a past event still uses the te-form for the earlier action, and the order usually follows the order in time.
