Meaning & usage
どう is an interrogative adverb meaning how, in what way, or what, used to ask about a method, a state, an opinion, or a future action. It is placed before verbs such as する or 思う, before です and its past form でした, or used alone at the end of a question like コート、どう？ It also appears in set patterns such as どうしたの for asking what happened and どうだった for asking how something was. It does not go directly before an adjective.
