Meaning & usage
よう after a demonstrative describes a way of doing something or a kind of thing, often translated as in this way, like that, or what kind of. It follows この, その, あの, and どの to form このよう, そのよう, and so on, with の required after どう to make どのように. Use ように to modify a verb and ような to modify a noun, as in このようにして and このような場合. Avoid *どうよう without の, which is ungrammatical.
