Meaning & usage
結構 means quite, pretty or fairly and is used to soften a strong degree or to politely decline an offer by saying that the current state is enough. As an adverb it goes directly before verbs, i-adjectives, na-adjectives and nouns with な, as in けっこう重い and けっこうな風. The polite refusal uses 結構です, with permission patterns like 見ても結構です and 来なくても結構です, which sound polite rather than blunt.
