ことにする (kotonisuru)

Meaning & usage

ことにする expresses that the speaker has decided on a course of action, often announced on the spot. It attaches to the plain form of a verb, as in 調べることにする or 行くことにする. The tone is casual in these examples, frequently ending in よ or か.
