ことになる (kotoninaru)

Meaning & usage

ことになる follows a plain-form clause and states that something amounts to, or works out as, a certain result, often a duration reached by a future point or a conclusion drawn from circumstances. It describes what something effectively comes to, rather than an explicit decision by someone.
