ことによる (kotoniyoru)

Meaning & usage

ことによる attributes a result to the fact that an action or event occurred. It is used in formal explanations when the cause is stated as a completed fact, as in 降ったことにより or 努力したことによって. It attaches to the plain form of a verb plus こと, with による modifying a noun and により or によって linking to a following clause.
