Meaning & usage
ことから marks a known fact or statement as the basis for a conclusion, judgment, or naming. It follows the plain form, as in 言うことから, このことから, and with nouns and な-adjectives it uses であることから. It often appears in patterns like ことから判断すると, ことからすると, and ことからすれば before a conclusion. It sounds formal and written, and is used for logical inference rather than direct physical cause.
