なりなり (narinari)

Meaning & usage

なりなり lists things in sequence, like saying one thing becomes or turns into another, then another. It follows a noun plus なり, repeating the pattern to build a chain, as in 小川になり、川になり、湖になる. The examples show it describing gradual change or a series of developments.
