願う・願います (u imasu)
Used to voice a hope or wish; also a polite way of asking someone to do something
Meaning & usage
願う (or the polite 願います) expresses a wish or hope, and in formal settings it works as a polite request or instruction, much like ください. It follows a noun plus particle, typically を (e.g. 確認を願います), or a plain-form clause quoting what is hoped for. The request usage appears in announcements and formal proceedings.
