面

面 marks the particular aspect, field, or standpoint from which something is judged, similar to in terms of or regarding. It attaches to a noun as Nの面 or as a compound like N面, then takes particles such as で, から, では to frame an evaluation. It is common in formal explanation and comparison when limiting a claim to one area, as in 科学技術の面で. Use で for the area involved, not に, and keep the noun before 面 clearly related to that viewpoint.
