だけのことはある says that a good outcome is no surprise because enough time, effort, or money went into it, often translated as worth it or paid off. It follows the past form of a verb like 練習しただけのことはある, an i-adjective like 高いだけのことはある, or a noun phrase with だけ like 有名な店だけのことはある. It is used for positive evaluations only, and the final ある becomes あった when looking back on a completed result.
