どうか most often appears in the pattern かどうか, where a plain-form clause plus か is followed by どうか to mean "whether or not," as in embedded questions like 好きかどうか. Separately, どうか can act as an adverb meaning "please" or "somehow, in some way," typically in requests or hopes.
