Meaning & usage
にかけては singles out a field of skill or activity to say that within that area someone stands out, often with praise or a claim that no one compares. It follows a noun, as in 数学にかけては, or a verb in dictionary form plus ことにかけては, as in 弾くことにかけては. The clause that follows usually gives a strong evaluation of ability or quality, so it is not used for neutral topic introduction like は alone.
