というより（は） (toiuyori ha)

Meaning & usage

というより（は）sets up a comparison, rejecting one description in favor of a more accurate one, like saying something is 'more X than Y'. It follows a noun or a plain-form phrase, and より can be strengthened to というよりも or というよりは, often followed by むしろ.
