一方で（は） 他方で（は） (de ha de ha)

Meaning & usage

一方で（は） introduces one side of a contrast and 他方で（は） introduces the other side, presenting two opposing qualities, judgments, or trends for the same topic. Each phrase comes at the start of its clause and is followed by a complete sentence in plain or polite form, often linked with が or けれども. The pattern is neutral to formal and suits written explanations, with は optional in both parts.
