一方（で） (de)

Meaning & usage

一方（で）presents a contrasting or parallel side of the same situation, meaning 'on the other hand' or 'meanwhile'. It follows a noun or a plain-form clause, often with その before it, and で may be dropped. Note that 一方通行 is a set compound meaning 'one-way street'.
