好きだ・すきだ (kida sukida)

Meaning & usage

好きだ expresses liking or fondness for a person, thing, or action. The thing liked is usually marked with が, as in 猫が好きだ, while verbs must be nominalized with の or こと, as in 歌うのが好きだ. It is a na-adjective, so it becomes 好きな before a noun, as in 好きなところ, and conjugates as 好きじゃない, 好きだった, and polite 好きです.
