How to tell them apart
に限って singles out X as the special or exceptional case, often with a sense of disbelief or strong expectation, while に限らず expands beyond X to say the statement applies broadly, not just to X. The core test is direction: に限って narrows in on one target (うちの子供に限って), whereas に限らず widens outward (何事に限らず). Swapping them flips the meaning entirely — saying うちの子供に限らず would mean not just our child, the opposite of the intended exclusivity.
- に限って Use に限って when you want to single out X as the exceptional or special case among others.
- に限らず Use に限らず when you want to say something applies not only to X but broadly beyond it.

に限って ni tte
only in that case; particularly when
に限って attaches to a noun or a plain-form clause and marks the only case or time in which something holds, singling it out from everything else. It often follows time expressions or groups of people, as in ご婦人に限って, and carries a slightly emphatic tone of 'particularly then'.

The hall allows children in only on that day.

夜寝れない時に限って、時計のカチカチいう音が気になるものだ。

に限らず ni razu
not restricted to; goes beyond
に限らず follows a noun and means that something applies beyond that noun, extending to other things as well. It often appears with words like 広く or あらゆる to stress that the scope is not restricted to the item mentioned.

By the way, is there some blog or column online that you check often? Well, it doesn't have to be online; magazines are fine, too.
