How to tell them apart
ざるを得ない expresses that circumstances force you into an action you would rather avoid, so the focus is on being compelled to do something despite reluctance, as in 高かったが買わざるを得なかった. わけにはいかない means you cannot do something because of an external reason or obligation, often blocking an action you might otherwise take, as in 運転するから酒を飲むわけにはいかない. Swapping them is unnatural because ざるを得ない is about being pushed into doing, while わけにはいかない is about being held back from doing.
- ざるを得ない Use ざるを得ない when external pressure leaves you no option but to do something you'd rather avoid.
- わけにはいかない Use わけにはいかない when an external circumstance or obligation prevents you from doing something.

ざるを得ない zaruwo nai
Unable to avoid doing; forced to do
ざるを得ない expresses that someone is compelled to do something, having no real alternative. It attaches to the negative form of a verb with ない dropped, so する becomes せざるを得ない. The tone is formal and often written, conveying reluctance or necessity imposed by circumstances.

-

わけにはいかない wakenihaikanai
unable to bring oneself to do; no way one can do
わけにはいかない expresses that something is impossible or cannot be done, often for social or practical reasons. It follows a verb in its plain form, typically the dictionary form, as in 知る, 認める, or させる. The phrase わけにはいかない itself stays unchanged regardless of politeness level.

ざるを得ない and わけにはいかない are both JLPT N2 grammar points that Japanese learners often mix up. This page compares them side by side on meanings, usage and example sentences, so you can tell them apart.
