御輿」は「輿」に「御」を付けたものであるが、通常はさらに「御」をつけて「おみこし」と呼ばれる。

Mikoshi' is made up with a word 'koshi (litter)' with an honorific prefix 'mi' but it is usually referred to as 'omikoshi' with an additional honorific prefix 'o.'
