冬至とうじ (touji)

冬至とうじにはお風呂ふろにゆずを入いれる

We put yuzu citrus fruits in the bath at the winter solstice.

（これを臨時朔旦冬至と呼んだ。）

(This type of Sakutan Toji was called Rinji Sakutan Toji [casual Sakutan Toji]).

そして、朔旦冬至は盛大に祝われた。

And Sakutan Toji was splendidly celebrated.

冬至の期間の七十二候は以下の通り。

The following are the divisions of Shichijuni-ko that fall into the Toji period.

冬至（とうじ）は、二十四節気の一つ。

Toji (the winter solstice) is one of Nijushi-sekki (the 24 divisions of the solar year).

朔旦冬至が正確に19年周期で訪れる。

Sakutan Toji comes around in an exact 19-year cycle.

古代には、冬至を1年の始まりとしていた。

In ancient times, Toji marked the beginning of a year.

朝鮮半島の小豆粥パッチュクは冬至に食べる。

The patjuk azuki bean porridge of the Korean Peninsula is eaten during the winter solstice.

そして、これを朔旦冬至（さくたんとうじ）という。

And this is called Sakutan Toji.

これまでで最後の朔旦冬至は1995年、次の朔旦冬至は2014年である。

The last Sakutan Toji took place in 1995, and the next one will occur in 2014.

（「朔旦冬至」とは19年周期の最初の年に11月1日(旧暦)が冬至となること。

('Sakutan Toji' means that the winter solstice falls on the first day of the 11th month of the old lunar calendar in the first year of the 19-year cycle.)

そのように暦を作成して極秘に調整した（日食や夏至・冬至の予定が狂う可能性が高くなる）。

Thus they manipulated the calendar in secret (which raised the possibility that solar eclipses and summer and winter solstices would not occur according to the forecasts).
