    Show answer

    Answer: 2. のように

のように is correct. The sentence reads 「ところで、彼ら鉄道ファンたちはのように趣味を楽しんでいるのだろうか」('By the way, in what way are these train enthusiasts enjoying their hobby?'). The rest of the passage then answers this question by listing various types of 鉄道ファン and how each one enjoys the hobby. のように (in what way / like what) fits perfectly as a question asking about manner/method.

    • 1それほど ('to that extent / so much') does not fit grammatically or semantically. The sentence is not asking about degree but about manner.
    • 3それでも ('even so / nevertheless') is a conjunction expressing concession. It cannot connect to 趣味を楽しんでいるのだろうか in this context.
    • 4どちらの ('which of the two') implies a binary choice, but the passage discusses many types, not two. It also does not grammatically fit before 趣味を楽しんでいるのだろうか.
    • のように — in what way; like ~ (used to ask or describe manner/method)
    • ところで — by the way (used to change the topic)
    • たのしむ — to enjoy
  2. 2.( 51 )に入るのに最もよいものはどれか。

    1. 1 にかわって
    2. 2 によって
    3. 3 のうえ
    4. 4 のほか
    Show answer

    Answer: 4. のほか

のほか is correct. The sentence reads 「『乗り鉄』のほか、写真を撮るのが好きな『撮り鉄』…などだ」('Besides 撮り鉄, there are also 撮り鉄 who like taking photos…'). The passage is listing additional categories of 鉄道ファン alongside the one already mentioned (乗り鉄). のほか ('besides / in addition to') correctly introduces these other types.

    • 1にかわって ('replacing / instead of') would imply 撮り鉄 replaced 撮り鉄, which makes no sense. The passage is listing coexisting types, not replacements.
    • 2によって ('depending on / by means of') does not fit here. The sentence is not expressing means or variation but simply listing additional categories.
    • 3のうえ ('on top of / in addition to') is close in meaning but is used more for adding conditions or layers (e.g., ~のうえに), and does not naturally connect to a list of noun categories the way のほか does.
    • のほか — besides; in addition to
    • 乗り鉄(のりてつ) — train enthusiast who enjoys riding trains
    • 撮り鉄(とりてつ) — train enthusiast who enjoys photographing trains
    • 描き鉄(かきてつ) — train enthusiast who enjoys drawing trains and railway scenery
    • 模型鉄もけいてつ — train enthusiast who enjoys train models
  3. 3.( 52 )に入るのに最もよいものはどれか。

    1. 1 こう
    2. 2 そう
    3. 3 同様に
    4. 4 以上のように
    Show answer

    Answer: 1. こう

こう is correct. The sentence reads 「ある40代の『乗り鉄』の女性は鉄道の魅力をこう語る」('A female 撮り鉄 in her 40s talks about the appeal of railways like this'), immediately followed by a direct quote. こう ('in this way / like this') is the standard expression used to introduce a quote that follows.

    • 2そう ('so / like that / apparently') refers to something heard or something distant from the speaker. Since the quote follows immediately and is being presented directly, こう (near/proximal) is appropriate, not そう.
    • 3同様に ('similarly / in the same way') implies comparison with something else, but here the author is simply introducing what the woman says, not comparing it to another statement.
    • 4以上のように ('as described above') is used to summarize what has already been stated. Here, the quote comes after, so this expression is temporally wrong.
    • こう — in this way; like this (used to introduce what follows)
    • 魅力みりょく — appeal; charm; attraction
    • かた — to talk; to speak; to recount
  4. 4.( 53 )に入るのに最もよいものはどれか。

    1. 1 鉄道ファン
    2. 2 女性ファン
    3. 3 彼女たち
    4. 4 大人たち
    Show answer

    Answer: 3. 彼女たち

彼女たち is correct. The preceding sentence introduces 「ママ鉄」—women who became train fans after taking their children to see trains. The blank is followed by の特徴は… ('the characteristic of ___ is…'), so it must refer back to those women. 彼女たち ('they / those women') correctly points back to the ママ鉄 group just mentioned.

    • 1鉄道ファン ('train enthusiasts') is too broad. The sentence says this group's characteristic differs from other 「鉄」, so it must refer specifically to the ママ鉄, not all 鉄道ファン.
    • 2女性ファン ('female fans') is broader than the intended referent. The passage just narrowed the topic to ママ鉄 specifically, and the contrast is with other 「鉄」 types, so the pronoun should point to the ママ鉄 women, not all female fans.
    • 4大人たち ('the adults') is too vague and does not specifically refer to the ママ鉄 mothers just introduced.
    • 彼女かのじょたち — they (female); those women
    • ママ鉄(ママてつ) — mother who became a train fan through her children
    • 特徴とくちょう — characteristic; feature
    • ことなる — to differ; to be different
  5. 5.( 54 )に入るのに最もよいものはどれか。

    1. 1 さまざまだ
    2. 2 さまざまだと言われた
    3. 3 さまざまである点だ
    4. 4 さまざまだと思われている
    Show answer

    Answer: 1. さまざまだ

さまざまだ is correct. The sentence reads 「鉄道ファンにはいろいろなタイプがあり、楽しみ方もさまざまだ」('There are various types of train enthusiasts, and the ways they enjoy (the hobby) are also varied'). This is a simple concluding statement summarizing the passage. さまざまだ ('are varied / are diverse') matches the plain declarative style of the sentence.

    • 2さまざまだと言われた ('were said to be varied') uses passive past tense, implying someone said this in the past. The passage is the author's own conclusion, not a reported statement, so this is wrong.
    • 3さまざまである点だ ('the point that they are varied') turns the clause into a noun phrase ('the point is that…'), which does not grammatically fit after も. The sentence needs a predicate, not a noun phrase.
    • 4さまざまだと思われている ('are thought to be varied') implies a general belief or perception by others. The author is stating their own observation directly, so this passive-perception form is inappropriate.
    • さまざまだ — are varied; are diverse; are of many kinds
    • 楽しみ方(たのしみかた) — way of enjoying; how one enjoys
    • タイプ(たいぷ) — type; kind
