JLPT Grammar Comparison

であれ vs にしろ・にせよ

How to tell them apart

であれ emphasizes that something holds true no matter what the condition is, often paired with question words like いかに or たとえ to mean "no matter what/who/how." にしろ・にせよ also concedes a condition but more often presents two alternatives or a specific case you are accepting as given, as in 練習にしろ. Swapping them can sound unnatural because であれ fits abstract "whatever X may be" statements, while にしろ・にせよ fits "even if it is X" or "whether X or Y" framings.
