kono poddo kyasuto wa, nihon go gakushuusha, chuukyuusha, joukyuushamuke no poddo kyasuto desu.
This podcast is for intermediate and advanced learners of Japanese.
I speak at a natural speed, using natural Japanese.
nan ka sugoku ame ga futte kite, chotto shuuchuu dekinakatta n desu kedo,
It suddenly started raining really hard, so I was having a little trouble concentrating, but...
kyou wa ne, 1 tsu oshirase ga arimasu.
Today, I have an announcement.
9 gatsu kara 3 shuukan nihon go charenji o hajimemasu.
Starting in September, I’m launching a three-week Japanese challenge.
" yonde, kangaete, kaku! 3 shuukan nihon go charenji " tte iu mono deshite,
It’s called “Read, Think, and Write! The Three-Week Japanese Challenge,” and this is how it works:
3 shuukan, maishuu chigau janru no bunshou o yonde,
For three weeks, you’ll read a different type of text each week,
sono naiyou ni tsuite kangae,
think about its content,
and practice writing your feelings and opinions in Japanese.
to iu naiyou desu.
That’s what the challenge is about.
sou iu 3 shuukan.
That’s what we’ll do for three weeks.
maishuu ironna topikku o, 1 shuukan ni 1 kai, minasan ni kadai o okutte,
Once a week, I’ll send everyone an assignment on a different topic,
sono kadai o yonde,
and you’ll read that assignment.
minasan ga jibun no kangae to ka iken, ato sore o yonde, dou omotta ka tte iu kansou to ka o,
Then you’ll write about your own thoughts and opinions, as well as your impressions and how you felt after reading it,
nihon go de kaku to iu renshuu desu.
all in Japanese.
kekkou muzukashii no de, reberu wa N2 ijou no hou to shite imasu.
It’s fairly difficult, so it’s intended for learners at N2 level or above.
de mo, charenji shitai kata wa zenzen, reberu... " watashi, N2 ga nai " tte omottete mo daijoubu desu.
But if you want to challenge yourself, your level really doesn’t... Even if you think, “I haven’t passed N2,” that’s okay.
tada, yomu kadai wa kekkou N2 reberu, N2 ijou no reberu ni settei shite iru no de,
However, the reading assignments are set at around N2 level, or above N2,
sore dake gochuui kudasai. to iu koto de.
so please just keep that in mind. Anyway...
sugoi ame futte kiteru.
It’s raining so hard now.
There’s a typhoon coming right now.
hai, maamaa, sou, sono nihon go charenji na n desu kedo,
Okay, anyway, back to the Japanese challenge.
1 shuume wa nan o yomu ka to iu to, shousetsu desu.
In the first week, you’ll read a novel.
hai, dazai osamu no " hashire merosu " to iu,
Yes, it’s called Run, Melos! by Osamu Dazai.
mou 1940 nen to ka ni dekita hon de, sugoku mae no sakuhin na n desu kedo,
It was written around 1940, so it’s quite an old work,
kanarazu nihon no gakkou no kyoukasho ni noru you na,
but it’s the kind of story that always appears
sugoi yuumei na shousetsu desu.
in Japanese school textbooks. It’s a very famous novel.
kore o ima no nihon go no kotoba, mukashi no kotoba ja nakute,
I’ll take the original language and replace the old-fashioned Japanese
ima no nihon go no gendai go yaku ni naoshite, minasan ni ookuri shimasu.
with a modern Japanese translation, and then send it to everyone.
sore o yonde,
After reading it,
jibun no omotta koto ya kansou, iken o kaite itadakimasu.
you’ll write down your thoughts, impressions, and opinions.
de, 2 shuume wa nyuusu desu.
In the second week, we’ll read news articles.
soshite 3 shuume wa essei to ka koramu desu ne.
And in the third week, we’ll read essays and columns.
hai, tte na kanji desu.
Yes, that’s roughly how it will work.
kekkou, sono tadashii nihon go de kaku to iu koto o ishiki suru dake ja nakute,
I also want you to put the thoughts and opinions currently in your head into words,
nihon go to shite hyougen suru to iu tokoro ni mo chuumoku shite itadakitai na to omotte shimau...... omotte shimau ja nai, omotte imasu ne.
and focus on expressing them in Japanese. I end up thinking... No, not “end up thinking.” I do think that.
hai, itsu mo tsukatte iru kotoba ja nakute, chigau kotoba o tsukatte miru to ka,
You could also try using words that are different from the ones you normally use.
soshite kaita mono o teishutsu shite moratte,
Then, you’ll submit what you’ve written
watashi ni meeru de okutte moratte,
and send it to me by email,
sore ni taishite watashi ga fiidobakku o suru to iu.
and I’ll give you feedback on it.
" kono hyougen wa kou iu fuu ni tsukau to ii desu yo " to ka,
I’ll say things like, “This is how you should use this expression,”
" motto ii hyougen arimasu yo " to ka,
“There’s a better expression you could use,”
" koko, ii desu ne " to ka, ironna koto o chekku shite,
or “This part is good.” I’ll check various things
mata okaeshi suru to iu kanji desu ne.
and then send it back to you.

to iu koto de,
So,
kyou wa, atarashii chousen o suru yo to iu hanashi desu.
today I’m talking about taking on a new challenge.
minasan, saikin atarashii chousen to ka shitemasu?
Have any of you taken on a new challenge recently?
nakanaka muzukashii yo ne, chousen tte.
It’s not easy, is it? Trying something new.
Well, I’ll start with the conclusion—or rather, I’ll tell you what I’m going to do first.
atarashii poddo kyasuto channeru o tsukurimasu.
I’m creating a new podcast channel.
donna channeru ka to iu to,
What kind of channel will it be?
N4 kara N3 muke no poddo kyasuto channeru o tsukurimasu.
I’m creating a podcast channel for learners at the N4 to N3 level.
kono ne, " Haru no Nihongo " no channeru tte, ima mou N2 kara N1 gurai,
You see, my “Haru no Nihongo” channel is now aimed at people around the N2 to N1 level,
sore ijou no hitomuke no channeru ni natteru n da kedo,
or even higher.
yappa sugoku muzukashii tte iu komento mo itadaku shi,
I receive comments saying that it’s really difficult,
" sensei, N4 to ka N3 reberu no poddo kyasuto o tsukutte kudasai " tte itte kureru hou mo ite,
and some people say, “Sensei, please make a podcast for learners at the N4 or N3 level.”
kekkou kangaete ita n desu ne.
So I’d been thinking about it quite a lot.
de, maa, nan darou na.
And, well, how should I put this?
nihon go kyoushi to iu shigoto.
My work as a Japanese teacher.
watashi ga nihon go kyoushi to shite,
yappari joukyuusha dake no yaku ni tatsu kontentsu o tsukuri tsuzukeru to iu yori wa,
rather than continuing to create content that only helps advanced learners,
yappari, subete no nihon go gakushuusha no yaku ni tateru you na kontentsu o tsukuritai na tte iu no ga,
I want to create content that can help all learners of Japanese.
mokuhyou to made wa iwanai n da kedo,
I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a goal,
watashi ga sou de aritai sugata to iu ka,
but it’s the kind of person I want to be,
risou no nihon go kyoushi no sugata mitai na bubun ga atte,
or part of my image of the ideal Japanese teacher.
For a long time, even if it wasn’t through a podcast,
nan kashira no katachi de, sono, N4, N3, N5 mo fukumete desu ne,
I wanted to find some way to help learners at N4, N3, and N5 too—
mada nihon go o benkyou shite, sonna ni jikan ga tattenai to ka,
people who haven’t been studying Japanese for very long.
sou iu hitotachi no oyaku ni tateru mono o, nan ka tsukuritai na tte omotte ita tte iu no ga atte.
I’d been wanting to make something that could help those kinds of people.
ato wa, sou da ne.
And also... Right.
ato wa tte iu ka, sou da ne.
Well, not “and also,” but... Right.
nan de poddo kyasuto ni suru ka to iu to,
As for why I chose a podcast,
maa, yappari watashi no dekiru koto tte, yappa hanasu koto gurai shika.......
well, I guess the only thing I can really do is talk...
" koitsu, yoku shaberu na " tte,
You’re probably thinking, “Wow, this person talks a lot.”
hontou ni minasan omotteru to omou n desu kedo,
I’m sure that’s what all of you think,
but I genuinely feel that talking is what I’m good at.
mochiron ne, mou sudeni ne, hontou ni takusan no poddo kyasuto channeru ga aru ja nai desu ka. nihon go gakushuu no.
Of course, there are already so many podcast channels for learning Japanese, right?
maa, nan ka, da kara, yaru imi an no ka na to ka omottari suru n desu kedo, kojinteki ni.
So, personally, I sometimes wonder, “Is there really any point in me doing this?”
But I thought there might be something only I can do.
watashi ni shika dekinai sutairu.
A style that only I can offer.
yappari, ironna hanashikata no nihon go no sensei ga ite, ironna sutairu ga atte,
There are Japanese teachers with all kinds of speaking styles, and all kinds of different approaches.
sore o takusan kiku no ga, yappari 1 ban, nihon go reberu o appu saseru ni wa ii to omou n desu yo ne.
I think listening to many of them is the best way to improve your Japanese.
da kara, ironna sutairu no, ironna nihon go no sensei no poddo kyasuto o kiite itadaite,
So I’d like you to listen to podcasts by many different Japanese teachers with many different styles,
sono naka no 1 tsu de, watashi mo kiite itadaketara na to omotte imasu.
and I hope mine can be one of them.
suggoi ame futteru. ee, daijoubu? tte gurai futteru.
It’s raining so hard. Like, “Is everything okay?” hard.
I’m wondering if you can hear it in the recording. Sorry.
taifuu desu.
It’s a typhoon.
hai, oki o tsukete. otaifuu wa....
Yes, please be careful. Honorable typhoon...
otaifuu?
“Honorable typhoon”? “Honorable typhoon”?
台風。
taifuu.
Typhoon.
かな。
ka na.
I guess.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things, and in the second half,
watashi no oshigoto no hanashi o mou chotto fukaku hanashitai na to omou n desu kedo.
I’d like to talk a little more deeply about my work.
iroiro kangaete, YouTube to ka Podcast tte muryou jan.
I’ve thought about it a lot, and YouTube and podcasts are free, right?
kiku no.
Free to listen to.
metcha ii jan, sore tte, tte sugoi omou n desu yo.
I just think that’s so great.
Of course, from a business perspective, I need paid...
watashi no bijinesu to kangaeru to, mochiron yuuryou kontentsu mo yatte ikanakya ikenai n desu kedo.
When I think about my business, of course I also have to keep creating paid content.
poddo kyasuto dake ja, yappari seikatsu dekinai no de.
I can’t make a living from podcasts alone.
But personally, I still think it’s amazing that people can study Japanese for free.
You know, just the other day, I happened to come across a news story.
ukuraina no hou ga nihon ni nanmin to shite hikkoshite kite,
It was about Ukrainians who had moved to Japan as refugees
because they couldn’t return to Ukraine, and were going to live in Japan.
yappa nihon go zero de kuru n desu yo ne. nanmin no hou to ka tte.
Refugees often arrive without knowing any Japanese at all.
nanni mo wakaranai mama,
They don’t understand anything yet,
jibun no kuni ni kaerenai kara,
but they can’t return to their own country,
so they move to Japan. That must be really difficult, right?
okane mo nai shi, shigoto mo getto dekinai kara,
They don’t have much money and can’t find work,
kuni kara shien ga deteru n desu kedo,
so the government provides support,
sono shien mo owatchattarashii n desu yo ne.
but apparently that support has now ended.
sou, kotoshi no 4 gatsu to ka kyonen to ka de owatchattete,
Yes, it ended around April this year, or sometime last year,
shienkin ga moraenai tte iu hanashi o shitete.
and they were saying that they could no longer receive financial assistance.
sou naru to, yappa jibun de kasegu shika nai ja nai desu ka.
When that happens, they have no choice but to earn money themselves, right?
de mo, minna isshou kenmei, nihon go to ka mo benkyou shite iru toki ni,
yappa, okane no kakaranai kontentsu tte, yappa sou iu hitotachi no tasuke ni mo naru n darou na tte omottete.
I feel that free content could help people in those situations too.
iroiro kangaeta kekka,
After thinking about all of this,
I felt that what I can do right now might be to create a podcast channel.
hai, mou namae kimemashita.
Yes, I’ve already decided on the name.
yappa " Haru no " o tsuketai ne.
I definitely wanted to include “Haru no.”
" Haru no " tte tsukeru to, yappa chotto burando kan ga aru jan.
When I add “Haru no,” it gives it a bit of a brand identity, right?
watashi no yatsu desu yo.
It shows that it’s mine.
「Haru no Nihongo」からの「Haru no Easy Japanese」ね。
" Haru no Nihongo " kara no " Haru no Easy Japanese " ne.
yappa " Haru no " shiriizu, chotto tsukutte ikou, mitai na.
Maybe I’ll start building a little “Haru no” series.
iya, soko made fukaku kangaetenai n desu kedo.
Although I haven’t thought that deeply about it.
はい、「Haru no Easy Japanese」。
hai, " Haru no Easy Japanese ".
jitsu wa, kono poddo kyasuto ga appu sarete iru no to onaji jikan ni, " Haru no Easy Japanese " no dai 1 episoodo o appu suru no de,
Actually, I’m uploading the first episode of “Haru no Easy Japanese” at the same time this podcast goes up,
zehi minasan, kiite mite.
so please give it a listen.
yokattara, ii ne to ka channeru touroku to ka itadaketara ureshii na to omotte orimasu.
If you enjoy it, I’d be very happy if you could like it and subscribe to the channel.
ima, kono poddo kyasuto o kiite iru minasan wa, chuukyuusha, joukyuusha ga ooi to omou n desu kedo mo,
I think most of you listening to this podcast are intermediate or advanced learners,
so it may be a little too easy for you.
kikinagashi to shite nihon go o kiku to ka,
But you could use it for passive listening,
tekisuto o mizu ni, kanzen ni rikai suru tte iu nihon go renshuu to shite wa,
or as Japanese practice where you try to understand everything without looking at the text.
chotto jibun no reberu yori shita no reberu no poddo kyasuto o kiite mi tari suru no mo ii no de,
Listening to a podcast that’s slightly below your current level can also be useful,
zehi, sono BGM to ka kikinagashi,
so please use it as background audio or for passive listening,
aruki nagara kigaru ni kikeru kontentsu to shite, zehi riyou shite itadaketara to omoimasu.
as something you can casually enjoy while walking. I hope you’ll make use of it that way.
mochiron ne, kono channeru wa tsuzukeru no de,
Of course, I’ll continue this channel too,
shinpai shinaide hoshii na to omoimasu ne.
so I don’t want you to worry.
chotto kouhan wa ne,
In the second half,
mou sukoshi watashi no shigoto ni tsuite hanashitai to omoimasu.
I’d like to talk a little more about my work.
Okay, so, about my work...
maa, watashi wa mou furiiransu, furiiransaa. nihon go gakkou de hataraku no o yamete,
Well, I’m a freelancer—a self-employed worker. I left my job at a Japanese language school,
and it’s now been six years since I started running this business myself.
bikkuri desu ne.
It’s surprising.
I’m a little surprised that I’ve kept it going for six years.
Thankfully, I’ve been fortunate enough to gain more podcast listeners,
nihon go kyoushi no shigoto dake de seikatsu dekiru you ni natte imasu kedo,
and I’m now able to support myself solely through my work as a Japanese teacher.
But freelancing really is unstable.
konna hanashi suru no, are na n da kedo.
It feels a little awkward to talk about this, but...
yoku, yappari " furiiransu ii na " to ka,
People often say things like, “Freelancing sounds great,”
" itsu de mo yasumi toreru jan " to ka, " asaoki nakute mo ii yo ne ",
“You can take time off whenever you want,” “You don’t have to get up in the morning,”
“You can take naps,” or “You can do whatever you like.”
iroiro iwareru n desu kedo, machigattenai n desu yo ne. sore, yappari.
People say all sorts of things, and they’re not wrong. They really aren’t.
Honestly, being able to take a nap whenever I want is wonderful,
and being able to work from anywhere is probably my favorite thing about freelancing.
ryokouchuu de mo hatarakeru.
I can work while traveling.
sou, nomado tte iimasu kedo ne, saikin wa ne.
People call that being a digital nomad these days.
Yes. But—and this is a big “but.”
sore o yaru ni wa desu ne,
To be able to do that,
aru ittei, kaseide nai to muri na n desu.
you need to be earning a certain amount of money.
hai, okane ga nai to, sonna yoyuu ga arimasen.
If you don’t have money, you can’t afford that kind of freedom.
" ryokouchuu, hatarakeru yo ne ".
“You can work while traveling.”
ryokou suru kane ga nakya ikenai n desu ne.
But you need enough money to travel in the first place.
" ohirune dekiru yo ne ".
“You can take naps.”
okane ga nakya sonna yoyuu nai n desu ne.
But without money, you can’t afford to relax like that.
" itsu de mo yasumeru yo ne "
“You can take time off whenever you want.”
okane ga nakya sonna yoyuu nai n desu ne.
But without money, you can’t afford to do that either.
It’s not that I don’t have money right now. That’s not what I mean.
da kara, sou iu koto ja nakute,
So that’s not the point.
sono furiiransu tte itsu doko de jibun no bijinesu ga umaku ikanaku naru ka wakaranai n desu yo.
The thing about freelancing is that you never know when or where your business might stop doing well.
hontou ni, sono ne, me no mae ga mienai.
You really can’t see what lies ahead.
me no mae to iu ka, sukoshi saki ga mienai tte iu fuan ga kekkou atte.
Rather than right in front of you, you can’t see even a little way into the future, and that creates a lot of anxiety.
sono, kaishain to shite hataraiteta toki tte,
When I worked as a company employee,
yappa, sugee sutoresu to ka ippai atta to omou no ne.
I think I had a huge amount of stress too.
ningen kankei to ka, maiasa, asa hayai to ka, joushi ga uzai to ka, kousoku jikan ga nagai.
Workplace relationships, having to get up early every morning, an annoying boss, and long required working hours.
kono kaishanai ni inakya ikenai jikan, kousoku sareru jikan, tsukamatteru tte iu kanji de.
The time you have to remain inside the office— the hours when you’re tied down. It feels like you’re being held captive.
kousoku jikan ga nagai to ka, donichi shika yasumi ja nai to ka, sou iu no ga atte.
There were long working hours, and only having weekends off, things like that.
mochiron ne,
Of course,
iya na pointo mo ippai aru n desu kedo.
there were many things I disliked.
sono, yappa kaishain datta toki tte,
But when I was a company employee,
sono kaisha ga tsuburenai kagiri,
as long as the company didn’t go out of business,
asu no kyuuryou ga hairanai mitai na koto tte nai ja nai desu ka.
there was no chance that my salary simply wouldn’t arrive the next day, right?
raigetsu mo onaji kyuuryou ga haitte kuru n desu yo, yamenakya.
The same salary would arrive the next month too, as long as I didn’t quit.
de mo, furiiransu de hataraku tte, yappari raigetsu no jibun no kyuuryou ga wakaranai n desu yo ne.
But when you work as a freelancer, you don’t know what your income will be next month.
mochiron ne, daitai kono gurai made tsuzukerareru ka na tte, suu kagetsu wa wakarimasu kedo,
Of course, I can roughly predict things for the next few months,
ichi nengoto ka mattaku wakaranai shi ne.
but I have absolutely no idea where I’ll be a year from now.
da kara, sono fuan tte iu no mo yappari arimasu shi,
So I do have that kind of anxiety,
kono konkai, atarashii chousen o suru tte iu fuu ni kimeta no wa,
and the reason I decided to take on this new challenge
6 nenkan yatte kite, watashi mo 32 sai ni narimashite,
is that after doing this for six years and turning 32,
shourai no koto o iroiro kangaeta n desu yo ne.
I started thinking seriously about my future.
kongo no koto to ka.
About what comes next.
kono kan, watashi no karada ga chotto mondai ga aru to iu hanashi o shite,
The other day, I talked about having some health problems,
kono poddo kyasuto o totte, henshuu shite iru toki ni,
and while recording and editing that podcast,
kekkou, kangae ga aratamatta tte iu bubun ga atte.
my way of thinking changed quite a bit.
ato, minasan ni komento o itadaite kara,
And after receiving comments from all of you,
kekkou, kangae ga kawatta to iu ka,
my thinking changed quite a lot—or rather,
aratamete kangaenaoshita koto ga takusan atte.
there were many things I reconsidered.
ima ga 1 ban wakai na to.
I realized that right now is the youngest I’ll ever be.
minasan, wakari kitte iru koto da shi,
It’s something everyone already knows,
yoku iu koto na n desu kedo,
and something people say all the time,
yappari aratamete omotta.
but it really struck me again.
ima ga 1 ban wakai n desu ne.
Right now is the youngest we’ll ever be.
toshi o tottara tairyoku ga nakunatte,
As we get older, we lose physical strength,
karada ga otoroete iku tte iu no wa, ningen to shite atarimae ja nai desu ka.
and our bodies gradually decline. That’s only natural for human beings, right?
karada ga tsuyoku natte iku hito ga itara, sore wa mou suupaa saiyanin gurai no,
If someone’s body kept getting stronger as they aged, they would be like a Super Saiyan—
ningen na no ka? mitai na ne.
like, are they even human?
ningen na no ka bakemono na no ka, boodaarain mitai na tokoro ni iru to omou n desu kedo.
They’d be right on the borderline between being human and being a monster.
watashi wa ippannin na no de,
But I’m an ordinary person,
so as I get older, I’m going to lose physical strength.
And I’m feeling that now. I genuinely am.
sou suru to, 1 ban tai ga ugokete, 1 bantou ga ugoku no tte,
That means the time when my body and mind work at their best
is this very moment.
sou omotta toki ni,
When I thought about it that way,
I felt that I should do what I’m capable of doing now.
yaritai koto ga aru n dattara,
If there’s something I want to do,
ima sugu ni koudou ni utsushita hou ga ii to omotte,
I should put it into action right away.
shokyuu, shochuukyuumuke no kontentsu o tsukurou to iu ketsui o shimashita.
So I decided to create content for beginner and upper-beginner learners.
ato wa desu ne, furiiransu to shite hataraku to iu koto de,
There’s also the fact that I work as a freelancer.
yappa kono 6 nen, tsuzukimashita kedo,
I’ve managed to continue for these six years,
7 nenme, 8 nenme, 10 nen, wakannai n desu ne.
but I don’t know what will happen in my seventh, eighth, or tenth year.
jinsei madamada nagakute.
I still have a long life ahead of me.
de mo, watashi no jinsei wa, kou, kongo ne, motto kawatte kuru yotei ga atte.
And my life is expected to change even more in the future.
For example, I want to live in a bigger house,
neko ga iru shi,
and I have a cat.
tatoeba, ato de shourai, kodomo ga hoshii tte natta toki to ka,
Or, for example, if I decide that I want children in the future,
there will be all kinds of changes in my life, right?
ie o kaitai to ka.
I might want to buy a house.
yappari ookii ie ni sumu tte naru to,
If I want to live in a bigger house,
kariru yori, yappa kau koto ga, nan ka 1 ban ii houhou ni natte kuru no de.
then buying one, rather than renting, will probably become the best option.
sou iu koto o kangaeru to,
When I think about things like that,
yappari jibun no bijinesu o chanto tsukuranakya to.
I realize that I need to build my business properly.
After thinking about it all... I want to make it strong and sustainable.
jibun no bijinesu o futoku nagaku saseru tame ni,
To build a strong business that will last,
ima no uchi ni koudou shite ikou to kangaete.
I decided to start taking action while I still can.
de, konkai, atarashii channeru o tsukutte,
So now, I’m creating a new channel,
mata zero kara ganbarou to iu kimochi ni natte iru to iu koto desu ne.
and I feel ready to work hard again from zero.
hai, seikou suru ka wakarimasen.
I don’t know whether it will succeed.
yappari ima, takusan no poddo kyasuto ga atte,
There are so many podcasts now,
ichiban... ichiban tte iu ka,
and the best... Well, not the best, exactly...
dono poddo kyasuto mo ii poddo kyasuto de,
Every podcast has something good about it,
and you never know what’s going to become popular.
sonna sekai de, watashi ga zero kara hajimete seikou suru ka mo wakaranai no de,
In a world like that, I have no idea whether I can start from zero and succeed,
yatte miru shika nai n desu kedo.
so all I can do is try.
Even if it doesn’t succeed, I think I’ll try to come up with something else new.
今は。
ima wa.
That’s how I feel right now.
yappa, kou, agattari sagattari nan de. kono kimochi to ka mo ne,
My feelings go up and down, as they always do.
" yappa muri ka mo, mou ya daa " tte omotchau ka mo shirenai shi,
I might start thinking, “Maybe I can’t do this. I’m so done!”
" yoshi, yaru zo!! " tte omou ka mo shirenai shi.
Or I might think, “All right, let’s do this!!”
sore wa, maa, shirimasen.
I don’t know which it’ll be.
But I want to give everything I can right now.
Also, freelancers are like tuna.
tomattara shinu n desu.
If they stop, they die.
oyogi tsuzukenakya ikenai n desu yo ne.
We have to keep swimming.
yappa kaisha to issho de, kaisha tte tomarenai ja nai desu ka.
It’s the same with companies. A company can’t just stop moving, right?
jibun ga hataraiteru kaisha ga " uchi wa genjou iji da ne " to ka ittetara, " kono kaisha, daijoubu ka? " tte omou ja nai desu ka.
If the company you worked for said, “We’re just going to maintain the status quo,” you’d think, “Is this company going to be okay?”
yappa seichou shi tsuzukenakya ikenai n desu yo ne. kigyou tte.
Companies have to keep growing.
tokuni ima, tekunorojii ga sugoku shinka shite, shinka suru hayasa mo dondon dondon hayaku natteru ja nai desu ka.
Technology is advancing rapidly now, and the pace of that advancement keeps getting faster and faster.
sono naka de, yappa sono shinka ni tsuite ikanakya ikenai n desu yo ne.
In that environment, we have to keep up with those advances.
kore wa furiiransu to ka kigyou dake ja nakute,
And this doesn’t apply only to freelancers and companies.
ima hataraite iru minasan, subete no hito ni ieru koto da to omou n desu kedo.
I think it applies to everyone who is working today.
For example, right now there’s AI.
kongo, AI o koete, nan ka betsu no tekunorojii mo, mata sugu ni umareru to omou n desu kedo.
And in the future, something beyond AI—some other technology— will probably emerge very soon.
sono AI tte, watashi, kojinteki ni yuu to, betsu ni sonna ni suki ja nai n desu yo ne.
Personally speaking, I don’t really like AI that much.
" AI ka...... " mitai na.
I’m like, “AI, huh...?”
" sonna ni tekunorojii, shinka shinakute mo ii no ni " tte, sugoi omou n desu yo.
I often think, “Technology doesn’t need to advance this much.” I really do.
" mou ii " tte.
I’m like, “That’s enough already.”
SNS mo suki ja nai shi, " ii tte " tte omou n desu yo.
I don’t like social media either. I’m like, “Enough already.”
tada ne, sonna koto ittete mo,
But even if I say that,
jikan wa matte kurenai n desu yo ne.
time won’t wait for me.
jidai to shinka wa tomaranai n desu yo.
The times and technological progress won’t stop.
hontou ni. kanashii koto ni.
They really won’t. Sadly.
So, well, in my private life,
mochiron atarashii tekunorojii tsukaitaku nai tte iu no wa aru n desu kedo,
I might choose not to use new technology, of course.
yappa kojin de bijinesu shiteru hito to ka wa tokuni,
But especially for people running their own businesses,
kigyou to ka tokuni,
and especially for companies,
atarashii tekunorojii ga dondon shinka shite iku no ga iya da tte omou kimochi, aru to omou n desu kedo.
I think many people dislike the fact that new technology keeps advancing so quickly.
But if all you do is complain about it, you’ll simply be left behind.
kono sekai.
That’s the world we live in.
zankoku na n desu ne.
It’s harsh.
This has turned into a very serious discussion.
watashi wa sore o saikin sugoku tsuukan shite ite.
But it’s something I’ve really come to realize lately.
nan ka tomarenai n desu.
I just can’t stop moving.
maguro na n desu. watashi.
I’m a tuna.
pichipichipichipichipichi!
Flap, flap, flap, flap, flap!
oyogi tsuzukenai, shinu!
If I don’t keep swimming, I’ll die!
So I want to keep taking on new challenges,
shippai shite mo, umaku ikanakute mo, soko de tomaru n ja nakute,
and even if I fail or things don’t work out, I don’t want to stop there.
Instead, I want to think, “Okay, let’s improve this part next. Let’s try something new,”
ima, omotte orimasu.
and keep moving forward with that mindset.
Sorry about that. This turned into a darker conversation than I expected.

yappa atarashii koto ni charenji suru tte, sugoi tanoshikute, wakuwaku shitemasu kedo.
Taking on something new is so much fun, and I’m really excited.

I guess I’ve become pretty used to it by now. Probably.

I’m starting to lose the fear of trying new things.

and I’ve had plenty of successes and failures.

So maybe I really have become numb to it.

maa, minasan, yokattara ouen shite itadaketara ureshii na to omoimasu.
So, everyone, I’d be happy if you supported me.
Well, none of us knows what the future holds.

That’s exactly why right now is the youngest we’ll ever be, and we should do what we can now—

1 ban ii koto o yatte iku koto ga ii n ja nai ka na to omoimasu.
I think we should keep doing whatever the best choice is for us.
And I thought there might be people like me who run their own businesses,
