ee, natsu desu.
Um, it’s summer.
kizukeba, natsu. ima, 7 gatsu no 18 ka desu. kyou wa. doyou hi.
Before I knew it, summer was here. It’s July 18th now. Today is... Saturday.
natsu desu.
It’s summer.
te ka, 7 tsuki mo 18 ka? kouhan?
I mean, it’s already July 18th? The second half of the month?
yabasugi.
That’s crazy.
yabai tte.
Seriously, that’s crazy.
I feel like just the other day I was saying something like, “June is almost over,” you know?
itsu 7 gatsu no 18 ka made susun da no? tte omou n desu kedo,
I’m wondering, “How did we already get all the way to July 18th?”
kotoshi mo hanbun owatta yo ne. 2026 nen.
Half of this year is already over, right? 2026.
kono hantoshikan, minasan dou datta ka na.
How have these past six months been for everyone?
It has now been six years since I started this channel, as of June.
minasan, itsu mo arigatou. 6 nen mo tsuzukeru nante omotte inakatta.
Thank you as always, everyone. I never thought I would keep it going for six years.
6 nen mo tsuzukerareta no wa ne, itsu mo ouen shite kureru minna no okage na n desu. hontou ni.
And the reason I’ve been able to continue for six years is all of you who always support me. Truly.
6 nen to iwazu ne.
And not just for six years.
10 nen, 20 nen, 50 nen, 100 nen to tsuzukete.
I’ll keep it going for 10 years, 20 years, 50 years, 100 years.
shinderu, shinderu.
I’d be dead, I’d be dead.
shinderu, shinderu. sasuga ni.
I’d be dead, I’d be dead. Obviously.
sono hanashi wa sateoki, natsu ga hajimatte,
Anyway, putting that aside, summer has begun,
kojinteki ni, yappari natsu ga hajimatta tte iu, tsuyu ga owatte natsu ga hajimatta to iu aizu ga ne,
and for me personally, there is a sign that makes me feel summer has really begun— that the rainy season has ended and summer has started.
It’s just my personal sign, not anything official,
sore wa semi no nakigoe ga kikoetara mou natsu no hajimari na n desu yo.
but once I hear the cicadas, summer has begun.
tsuyu no owari, semi no hajimari... ja nai.
The end of the rainy season and the beginning of cicadas... no, that’s wrong.
semi ja nee yo.
It’s not about the cicadas beginning!
tsuyu no owari natsu no hajimari wa, semi no nakigoe desu ne.
The sound of cicadas signals the end of the rainy season and the beginning of summer.
semi ga iru kuni to inai kuni ga aru to omou n desu kedo,
I think there are countries that have cicadas and countries that don’t,
nihon wa natsu ni naru to, semi no koe ga monosugoi no ne.
but in Japan, the cicadas are incredibly loud in summer.
uchi no chikaku no kouen to ka mo,
Even in the park near my home,
semi no nakigoe ga sugokute.
the cicadas are really loud.
mado o aketara, aru hi, totsuzen semi no koe ga kikoete,
Then one day, I opened the window and suddenly heard them,
" tsuyu ga aketa! natsu da! " mitai na ne, kimochi ni narimashita.
and I felt like, “The rainy season is over! Summer is here!”
nan ka saikin, mada chotto ame ga kekkou futtari to ka,
It has still been raining quite a bit lately,
taifuu no eikyou ga atte, tenki wa fuantei na n desu kedo,
and the weather has been unstable because of the typhoon,
mou eakon wa tsukeppanashi no atsui natsu ga yatte kite,
but the hot summer when the air conditioner stays on all day is here.
There’s something happening near me today—I live in Saitama Prefecture—
and apparently there’s a summer festival at a nearby shrine.
kyou to asu.
It’s today and tomorrow.
nan ka, matsu wa, matsu wa.
I just said “matsuwa, matsuwa.”
" matsuri " to " machi " ga awasatchatta. " matsu wa " tte itchatta kedo, machi wa nigiwatte orimasu.
I accidentally combined matsuri, “festival,” with machi, “town.” I said “matsuwa,” but the town is bustling.
Yes, it’s summer-festival season. And children are, you know, probably starting their summer vacation today. Probably.
ii naa natsuyasumi to ka ne.
Summer vacation sounds so nice.
natsuyasumi hoshii.
I want a summer vacation.
minna, natsuyasumi nan suru n darou ne. kotoshi no natsu ne.
I wonder what everyone will do during summer vacation this year.
umi ittari, puuru ittari, kyanpu shi tari,
Go to the beach, go to the pool, go camping,
kyanpu atsui ka, baabekyuu shi tari,
although camping might be too hot, or have a barbecue,
hanabi taikai mi tari to ka, iroiro suru no ka na.
or go see a fireworks show. I wonder what everyone will do.
iroiro ne, yappa natsu no ibento tte iu no wa, nihon ni takusan arimasu no de,
There are all kinds of summer events in Japan,
minna ne, tanoshinde ne. natsu o ne.
so enjoy summer, everyone.
But it’s freaking hot, so please be careful of heatstroke.
watashi mo tsuini higasa o kaimashita.
I finally bought a parasol too.
Yes, I bought a black parasol from UNIQLO because they were selling it for around 2,000 yen.
higasa tte yuu to sa, yappa minna " dassa " tte omou desho.
When you hear “parasol,” you probably think, “That looks so lame,” right?
natsu ni kasa sashiteru no, dassa tte omou jan.
You think carrying an umbrella in summer looks lame.
ano, onnanokoppoi tte kanji ne.
Or that it seems girly.
tokuni dansei wa zettai iya da tte iu hito, kekkou ooi to omou n da kedo,
I think there are especially many men who absolutely refuse to use one,
but this umbrella isn’t only for preventing sunburn.
saikin wa hiyake to ka ja nakute,
These days, it’s not really about sunburn.
chokusha nikkou, chokusetsu, taiyou ga ataru chokusha nikkou o sakeru tame ni,
People use umbrellas to avoid direct sunlight—the sun beating directly down on them—
kasa o otoko no hito de mo, onna no hito de mo kasa o tsukau hito ga ooi desu.
and both men and women use them.
tsuukin suru toki to ka tsuugaku suru toki to ka tsuukin no 10 bun, 15 bun de, futsuu ni netchuushou no shoujou dete kichau n desu yo.
Even during a 10- or 15-minute commute to work or school, you can genuinely start developing symptoms of heatstroke.
atsu sugite. atama ga atsui kara. sugoi.
It’s just too hot. Your head gets so hot. It’s intense.
da kara, sore o fusegu tame ni boushi yori mo yappa kasa no hou ga mamorareteru.
So, to prevent that, compared with a hat, an umbrella really protects you better.
I’m actually using one now, and it makes a huge difference.
dasai to ka ne, omottari mo suru to omou shi,
You might think it looks lame,
or think, “Ugh, no. That’s such a hassle,” but still,
it’s about protecting your life, so I recommend a parasol.
UNIQLO sells black parasols, and of course men can use them too.
metcha ii to omou.
I think they’re really great.
maji de netchuushou taisaku, chanto shita hou ga ii.
Seriously, you need to take proper precautions against heatstroke.
hiyake to ka no hanashi ja naku natte kiteru n de ne, saikin ne.
It’s gone beyond being about sunburn these days.
hai, to iu koto de,
Okay, so,
kyou wa desu ne, hikkoshi no hanashi.
today I’m going to talk about moving.
" omae, hikkoshi shita no, daibu mae daro " tte ne, tsukkomi ga haitte kuru to omou n desu kedo,
You’re probably thinking, “You moved ages ago,” and ready to call me out on that,
and you’re absolutely right. It has already been more than six months since I moved.
imasara? mitai na.
You’re probably like, “Why talk about it now?”
de mo hikkoshi no hanashi o futo omoidashita no de,
But the move suddenly came to mind,
kyou wa donna koto ga taihen datta to ka,
so today I want to tell you what was difficult
and what the whole experience was like. That’s what I’d like to talk to you about.
watashi ga hikkoshi no, hikkoshi katsudou?
My moving... moving activities?
hikkoshi katsudou tte nan? hikkoshi no katsudou? hikkoshi katsudou o hajimeta no wa, 11 gatsu na n desu yo.
What are “moving activities”? Activities for moving? I started the process of moving in November.
kyonen no.
Last year.
10 gatsu ni furansu kara kaette kite, 11 gatsu ni hikkoshi no, iesagashi o hajimete.
I came back from France in October, and started looking for a new home in November.
I actually moved gradually from December into January.
sukoshi zutsu nimotsu o ugokashi, ie wa mou keiyaku shite, hontou ni 1 shuukango gurai ni ireru kara ireru n da kedo,
I moved my belongings little by little. Once I signed the lease, I could move in about a week later,
iroiro jijou ga atte sukoshi zutsu hikkoshite,
but for various reasons I moved things over gradually,
hikkoshi ga kanryou shita no wa, 1 gatsu no chuujun tte iu kanji deshita ne.
and I finished moving in around the middle of January.
watashi no kareshi ga furansu kara rainichi suru no to onaji hi ni, subete no hikkoshi o kanryou saseta tte iu kanji de,
I completed the entire move on the same day that my boyfriend arrived in Japan from France,
warito nagaku kakatta n desu ne.
so it took quite a long time.
As for why I chose Saitama Prefecture,
I’m originally from Tokyo,
watashi no kareshi no shigoto ga toukyou na n da kedo, saitama ni chikai.
and my boyfriend’s job is in Tokyo, but close to Saitama.
densha to ka ga saitama to 1 chokusen datta tte iu no mo aru shi,
There was also a direct train line from Saitama,
and fortunately I can work from anywhere, because I’m the type of person who works from home, so the location didn’t matter to me.
I was also just done with Tokyo. There are too many people.
ato wa shinpuru ni, toukyou no ie no nedan ga monosugoku takai no de,
And, simply put, homes in Tokyo are incredibly expensive.
yachin mo monosugoku takai no de, chotto muri ka mo tte iu bubun de,
Rent is also incredibly expensive, so it felt like it might be impossible.
ano saitama ni hikkoshita to iu katachi ni narimasu.
That’s how I ended up moving to Saitama.
de, maa yachin takai tte itte mo sa, ie ga nai wake ja nai jan to omou ka mo shirenai n da kedo,
But even if rent is expensive, you might think that doesn’t mean there are no homes available.
ano, konkai no hikkoshi de monosugoku muzukashikatta ten ga, 3 ten aru n desu ne.
There were three factors, however, that made this move extremely difficult.
haado moodo datta n desu yo. konkai no hikkoshi wa.
This move was on hard mode.
The first reason was Mona—my cat. We have one cat at home.
tottemo yoku shaberu, kekkou kinjo meiwaku ni narigachi na nekochan ga 1 hiki iru n desu yo ne.
He is extremely talkative, and has a tendency to disturb the neighbors.
ato wa kareshi ga gaikokunin to iu koto.
The next issue was that my boyfriend is a foreign national.
gaikokunin de ari,
He is a foreign national,
and it would have been one thing if he had already been in Japan with a visa while we were looking for a home,
but he didn’t have a job yet, and we had to look for a place while he didn’t have a visa either.
sore ga chotto hen datta.
That part was a little strange.
soshite watashi wa furiiransu na no de, shin'you ga nai n desu yo.
And I’m a freelancer, so I’m not considered trustworthy.
yappari ie o kariru toki tte, shin'you tte sugoku taisetsu de.
When you rent a home, credibility is really important.
sono hito ga dore gurai shuunyuu ga aru ka to ka, donna kaisha de donna shigoto o shite iru no ka.
They look at things like how much income you have, what company you work for and what kind of work you do,
nan nen soko de hataraite iru no ka tte iu kono shakaiteki na shin'you tte iu no o sugoi juushi sareru n desu ne.
and how many years you have worked there. They place a huge amount of importance on that kind of social credibility.
Especially in Tokyo, which is an extremely popular area,
mou ii bukken nante soku urikire na n desu yo.
good properties are taken immediately.
de, ii bukken ga... bukken ga pon tte deru to suru jan. shinchaku bukken, mitai na.
Say a good new property suddenly appears. Like a newly listed property.
so shitara, mou byou de moushikomi ga hairu no yo. sutto.
It immediately gets an application. Just like that.
Basically, applicants are considered in the order in which they apply,
shita jun no naka de mo, tatoeba nanka, jibun wa ima shigoto ga nai desu tte, iwaretara,
but even among those applicants, for example, if someone says, “I don’t currently have a job,”
" anata, chotto gomen nasai ". hai, jaa, tsugi.
they’ll be told, “Sorry, but no.” Okay, next.
" watashi wa ginkou de hataraitemasu " tte ittara mou saikou!
If the next person says, “I work at a bank,” that’s perfect!
shin'you, ◎ ( ni juumaru) to iu kanji de kimaru mitai na ne.
They get a big double circle for credibility, and the decision is made.
da kara, hayaku moushikon da kara to itte, sono hito ga kimaru to wa kagiranakute,
So applying early doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get the place.
sono go, shinsa tte iu no ga aru ne.
There is a screening process afterward.
If you fail that screening, you can’t rent it,
and freelancers are famously bad at passing those screenings—me included.
Freelancers really struggle to pass,
nan ka YouTube to ka yattemasu to ka ittara motto tooranai no yo.
and saying you do something like YouTube makes it even harder.
kinjo meiwaku ni naru kara ne.
Because they think you might disturb the neighbors.
shin'you ga nai shokugyou.
It’s an occupation with little credibility.
ichiou nihon go kyoushi da kara, soko made na n da kedo.
I am technically a Japanese teacher, so it isn’t quite as bad for me.
Anyway, I had these three issues: a cat, a foreign boyfriend, and freelance work. Because of those three factors,
I was prepared for the possibility that we seriously might not find a home.
toukyou wa mou akirameyou to. zettai muri tte omotta kara, saitama ken ni idou shita tte iu katachi na no ne.
I decided to give up on Tokyo because I thought it would be absolutely impossible, so we moved our search to Saitama Prefecture.
Saitama has all kinds of stations,
and I chose a fairly large—reasonably large—station.
ketsuron kara yuu to,
To get straight to the point,
jitsu wa soko made taihen ja nakatta n desu yo.
it actually wasn’t that difficult.
ie erabi wa.
Choosing a home, I mean.

but there are many reasons why Japan’s garbage-disposal rules are strict.
nihon wa kouon tashitsu da kara, soto ni gomi o oite oku to,
Japan is hot and humid, so if you leave garbage outside,
sugu kusattari nioi ga monosugoku nattari,
it quickly rots and starts smelling awful.
ato osen da yo ne.
There’s also the pollution issue.
The area becomes extremely dirty, which is very unhygienic.
ato karasu ga tairyou ni iru no yo. hontou ni.
And there are huge numbers of crows. Seriously.
chotto de mo soto ni oite oku to,
If you leave garbage outside even briefly,
karasu ga kui chirakashite michi ga gomidarake mitai na.
crows tear it apart and the street becomes covered in trash.
tamani miru n da kedo.
I see that sometimes.
sou, da kara, furansunin no kareshi ga mite, " nan kore, yaba. " " karasu da ne " mitai na.
So when my French boyfriend sees it, he says things like, “What is this? This is awful.” “There are crows everywhere.”
michi mo semai kara, nihon tte, sugoku,
The streets in Japan are also very narrow,
gomi ga kui chirakasareru to, sugoku medatsu shi, sugoku kusai shi, kinjo made.
so when crows tear garbage apart, it is extremely noticeable, smells awful, and affects the whole neighborhood.
da kara gomi no bunbetsu to ka gomi no sutekata to ka tte, sou iu bubun mo atte sugoku kibishii no ne.
That is one reason why garbage separation and disposal are governed by such strict rules.
tokuni natsuba to ka wa, chuui shita hou ga yokute.
You need to be especially careful in summer.
maji de kusaku naru kara hontou ni.
It seriously starts to stink.
You find yourself thinking, “Who put this out the day before collection?”
" kyou moeru gomi no hi ja nee shi " mitai na.
Or, “Today isn’t even burnable-garbage day.”
You’re often like, “Who did this? It stinks!”
sou iu ruuru mo aru n da kedo,
So there are rules like that,
kizu o tsukete wa naranai yogoshite wa naranai tte iu sono ruuru ga monosugoi komakai no ne.
but there are also rules saying that you must not damage or dirty the home. Those rules are incredibly detailed.
This stain is acceptable, but this scratch is not. It gets very confusing.
kore wa ne, jibun no kuni no kotoba de setsumei shite kureru hito o tayotta hou ga ii to, watashi wa omoimashita ne.
I think it’s best to rely on someone who can explain it in your own language.
eigo de mo chuugoku go de mo betonamu go de mo ne.
Whether that is English, Chinese, or Vietnamese.
omotta ne.
That’s what I thought.
kibishii no yo. hontou ni.
The rules are seriously strict.
kizu, watashi mo hantoshi to ka sunderu to, shizen ni kizu ga tsuku no ne.
After living somewhere for six months, scratches naturally appear.
Actually, when I was moving in, I dropped things like my bed and caused some scratches.
yabee!!!
Oh no!!!
mada hikkoshite 1 ka shika tattenai no ni, mou kizu ga!!
I had only been there for one day, and there was already a scratch!!
to ka, ryouri to ka shiteru to, kabe ga kitanaku nattari suru jan.
And when you cook, the walls get dirty, right?
Apparently, normal stains and scratches caused by everyday life are acceptable.
da kedo, sore o koeru mono tte iu no wa, ookina kizu to ka ookina yogore to ka nichijou seikatsu de hassei shinai mono.
But anything beyond that means large scratches, major stains, or damage that would not occur in everyday life.
tatoeba, tabako wa dame da ne.
Smoking, for example, is not acceptable.
tabako no nioi de, to ka, tabako de kabe ga kiiroku natchatta, to ka.
That includes the smell of cigarettes, or walls turning yellow from cigarette smoke.
sou iu no wa jiko futan ni natchau no yo.
You have to cover those costs yourself.
hikkosu toki ni, sono shuuzenhi tte iu no ga kakatchau no yo ne.
When you move out, you are charged repair costs.
jibun de harawanakya ikenakute.
You have to pay them yourself.
sono boodaarain tte iu no ga sugoku muzukashikute, watashi mo imada ni yoku wakattenai n desu yo ne.
The line between acceptable and unacceptable damage is very difficult to understand, and even now, I still don’t fully understand it.
そう。
sou.
Yes.
kore wa kaigai kara kita hito, hikkoshi choutaihen sou tte omoimasu ne.
It makes me think that moving must be extremely difficult for people coming from overseas.
Maybe you should avoid living in a newly built property.
chuuko bukken da to aru teido mou nenki haitteru kara barenai shi, jouken mo yurii ne.
An older property already shows some age, so damage is less noticeable, and the conditions are less strict.
yappa chiku ga asakereba asai hodo ninki bukken da shi, jouken mo kibishiku natte kuru kara.
The newer a property is, the more popular it is, so the requirements also become stricter.
petto dame to ka ne.
For example, pets may not be allowed.
So, why are the rules this strict? I asked the real-estate agent about it.
When I asked why they were so strict, the first reason was that many problems had occurred in the past, leading to the current rules.
maamaa sore wakaru yo ne.
That part is understandable.
kako ni ironna toraburu ga atte,
There have been all kinds of problems in the past.
kihonteki ni, nihon no ie tte iu no wa, kanri kaisha to ka chuukai kaisha o aida ni hasande,
Basically, when renting a home in Japan, a property-management company or real-estate agency acts as an intermediary.
oonaa to chokusetsu, ooyasan to chokusetsu atte ie o kimeru tte koto wa anmari nai no yo.
You rarely meet the owner or landlord directly and decide on the home with them.
inaka to ka no hou da to aru n da kedo, tonai wa hobo nakute.
That does happen in rural areas, but it is extremely rare in central Tokyo.
kao to kao o awasechau koto ni yotte hassei suru toraburu to ka, mondai to ka, ironna mono ga attarashikute, kako ni.
Apparently, there were many problems and disputes in the past caused by landlords and tenants dealing face-to-face.
So now it is standard to have an agent in the middle.
furansu no nanto de hikkosu toki wa, oonaa to chokusetsu no yaritori.
When I moved in Nantes, France, I dealt directly with the owner.
I contacted the owner and said something like, “I’d like to come and view the home.”
Then I paid the rent directly to the owner.
nihon wa sou iu koto wa anmari nai desu.
That kind of arrangement is uncommon in Japan.
It exists, but it is rare. It becomes more common the farther into the countryside you go.
furui ie to ka ne.
It also happens with older homes.
sore wa toraburu o sakeru tame ni, sou natte iru you desu ne.
Apparently, intermediaries are used to avoid disputes.
The rules concerning repairs and restoring a property to its original condition mean repairing any damage you caused when you move out.
Japan is very strict about restoring a property to its original condition. Japan, you know.
This next reason is just my own theory,
nihon tte mechamecha shinchiku bukken ooi no yo.
but Japan has a huge number of newly built properties.
jishin to ka taifuu to ka ironna saigai ga aru desho. nihon tte iu no wa.
Japan experiences earthquakes, typhoons, and many other natural disasters. That is the kind of country Japan is.
Homes are damaged, so they have to be strengthened, and homes are repeatedly rebuilt.
da kara, mite, nihon ni kitara wakaru to omou n da kedo,
If you visit Japan and look around, I think you’ll notice it.
atarashii ie, ooi jan.
There are lots of new homes.
You’ll often think, “This apartment building is new too,” because there are so many of them.
da kara shinchiku bukken tte iu no ga atarimae no you ni ippai aru kara,
Newly built properties are available everywhere as a matter of course.
sono, chiku ga, kou, nan te iu no, keika shite itte,
Then, as a building gradually ages—how should I put it?—
tatoeba chiku 10 nen, 20 nen ni natte iku to, ninki ga nakunatte iku no ne. dondon.
and becomes 10 or 20 years old, it gradually becomes less popular.
minna shinchiku ga ii shinchiku ga ii to ka yuu kara, kachi ga sugoku takai no ne.
Everyone says they want a newly built home, so being in a pristine condition has tremendous value.
sono kirei na joutai tte iu no ga, atarashii joutai tte iu no ni, sugoku kachi ga takakute,
A clean condition— a new condition—is considered extremely valuable.
nan ka sukoshi de mo kizu to ka ga medatte shimau to, sono chuuko kan ga sugoku tsuyoku natchau no ne.
If even a few scratches become noticeable, the property immediately feels much more used.
dare ka ga sundeta ato ga aru to, chotto minna iyagaru hito ga kekkou ookute.
When there are signs that someone has lived there, quite a lot of people dislike it.
dattara, sono tonari no shinchiku itta hou ga ii waa mitai na.
They think, “I might as well choose the newly built place next door.”
betsu no bukken de, motto ii tokoro atta tte natchau kara,
They find another property and think, “This one is better.”
sono, dekiru dake, kono " dare ka ga sundemashita " kan o herasu.
So it is important to minimize that sense that “someone lived here”
atarashii joutai ni kaifuku saseru tte iu koto ga,
and restore the home to a like-new condition.
That is quite important for preventing the property’s value as real estate from falling in Japan.
furansu de sundeta toki to ka tte, chiku nanjuu 0 nen to ka ne,
When I lived in France, buildings being several decades old was normal.
50 nen, 60 nen to ka atarimae datta kedo, nihon ja mou ari enai, ari enai desu ne.
Being 50 or 60 years old was completely ordinary, but that would be unthinkable in Japan. Really unthinkable.
jishin ga okita toki ni kowai to ka ne.
People worry that an older building would be dangerous during an earthquake.
kekkou aru n da yo ne.
That’s a fairly common concern.
mochiron ne, chiku nensuu ga kekkou aru tatemono no hou ga, sono, nan ka omomuki ga atte, to ka,
Of course, some people prefer older buildings because they have character
fun'iki ga suki tte iu hito mo mochiron iru n da kedo.
or because they like the atmosphere.
tte iu.
So, yes.
ijou de gozaimasu ne.
That is all.
watashi no kangaeta kekka.
That was the conclusion I reached.
da kara, shou ga nai na tte iu.
So I suppose it can’t be helped.
mou chotto yasashiku shite kurete mo ii jan to omou kedo,
Although I still wish they would be a little more lenient,
fudousangyoukai no koto o kangae, fudousan oonaa no koto o kangaeru to sezaru o enai no ka na to.
when you consider the real-estate industry and the property owners, perhaps these rules are unavoidable.
karera no seikatsu no tame ni ne.
Their livelihoods depend on it too.
yappa nattoku ikanai mono ippai aru kedo ne.
There are still many things I can’t accept, though.
mou chotto yasashiku shite kure yo tte omottari suru n da kedo.
I often wish they would be a little kinder.
petto to ka mo ne.
The same goes for pets.
saikin wa de mo yappari gaikoku no hito mo fue tari to ka,
Still, the number of foreign residents has been increasing recently,
ato petto o kau, nekochan o kau hito to ka mo sugoku fueteru kara,
and more people are keeping pets— especially cats—
sukoshi zutsu kawatte iru koto wa aru tte, fudousan no hito ga itteta ne.
so the real-estate agent said that things are gradually changing. That’s what the real-estate agent told me.
nan ka mukashi yori wa zenzen yasashiku narimashita yo tte.
They said the rules are much more lenient than they used to be.
fudousan no kisoku mitai na no mo arurashikute, sore mo sukoshi zutsu kaizen sarete itterurashikute.
Apparently, there are also regulations for the real-estate industry, and those are gradually improving too.
ijou desu.
That’s all.
nihon no hikkoshi wa ne, taihen.
Moving in Japan is difficult.
大変。
taihen.
Very difficult.
I really like this home, so I would like to keep living here,
mou chotto hiroi ie hoshii ka na.
although I would like a slightly larger home.
